Canada beats Slovakia 3-2 in shootout, finishes third in Deutschland Cup

MUNICH, Germany _ Canada wrapped up the Deutschland Cup on a winning note, beating Slovakia 3-2 in a shootout on Sunday.
Adam Mitchell scored the only goal in the tiebreaker to give coach Mark Messier's team its first victory at the event.
Canada ended up placing third. Lee Goren and Craig MacDonald also had goals for the Canadian team, which was comprised of European-based professionals. Jean-Sebastian Aubin stopped 34 shots in regulation and all three attempts in the shootout.
Rudolf Huna and Marcel Hossa replied for Slovakia. Messier will also coach Canada's entry at the Spengler Cup in Switzerland next month.
