Canada Announces Additional Player for 2007 IIHF World Championship

CALGARY, AB – Hockey Canada, along with Team Canada general manager Steve Yzerman, announced today the addition of defenceman Dion Phaneuf (Edmonton, AB/ Calgary, NHL) to Canada’s official World Championship roster. Phaneuf is expected to join the team in Moscow, Russia on May 1st.

The 2007 IIHF World Hockey Championship runs through in Moscow, Russia.

With today’s player addition, Canada’s roster now includes a total of 23 players, including twelve forwards, eight defencemen and two goaltenders.

Canada opened the 2007 IIHF World Men’s Hockey Championship on April 28 with a 3-2 win over Germany. Canada takes on Norway on Monday, April 30th at 1:15 pm (ET) live on TSN/RDS. All of Canada’s games at the World Championship are being broadcast live by TSN/RDS, the official broadcaster of Hockey Canada. (check local listings).

2008 IIHF Men’s World Championship in Canada

Canada will be hosting the IIHF World Men’s Championship, for the first time ever, in May 2008 in Halifax and Quebec City.
