Served as vice-president of the IIHF from 2008-12

Served as chairman of the IIHF Medical Committee from 1998-2012
Served as chairman of the IIHF Junior Committee from 1998-2003
Served as chairman of the IIHF Technical/Arena Committee from 2003-08
Served as chairman of the IIHF Competition Committee from 2008-12
Also sat on the IIHF Hall of Fame Committee, and Statutes & Bylaws Committee
Is a member of the Order of Hockey in Canada Executive Committee
Directed the merger of the CAHA and Hockey Canada in 1994
Was instrumental in the creation of the Program of Excellence in 1981
Was instrumental in the creation of Canada’s National Women’s Team in the late 1980s
Spent 17 years as a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame Board of Directors
Was a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame Selection Committee
Was an arbitrator for the World Hockey Association Players’ Association
Served as publicity director for the Western Hockey League
Won back-to-back WHL (minor pro) championships as GM of the Seattle Totems in 1967-68
Played 163 NHL games with Chicago, Boston and Detroit from 1953-57
Recorded 32 points (13 goals, 19 assists) during his NHL career
Played junior hockey at St. Michael’s College in Toronto from 1950-53

Born February 24, 1934 in South Porcupine, Ont.
His brother, Les Costello, played 15 NHL games with Toronto, and founded the Flying Fathers

Received the Wayne Gretzky International Award from USA Hockey in 2012
