Exhibition RIGA, LATVIA – Team Canada played its first third pre-championship game, and its first game on European soil as they beat Latvia 3-1. Latvia scored the only goal in the first period, but Canada responded in the second as they scored three unanswered goals. Canada had three different goal scorers as Patrick Marleau, Simon Gagne, and Dany Heatley all scored in the middle frame. After a scoreless third period, Canada’s 3-1 victory gave them their second pre-championship win in three games. Martin Brodeur played the entire game for Canada and only allowed one goal as he was named player of the game. Janis Sprukt was named player of the game for Latvia. Team Canada will travel to Prague, Czech Republic tomorrow as they face the home town Czech’s in their fourth pre-championship game.
