WEST REGION: After winning their second consecutive Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) title, the Yorkton Terriers qualified for the 2006 RBC Royal Bank Cup with a 4-1 series victory over the Winnipeg South Blues (Manitoba Junior Hockey League) in the Anavet Cup. The Terriers are led by Chris Korchinski. The veteran forward was named Anavet Cup MVP after recording five goals and six assists in five games. Korchinski, the 2005-06 SJHL MVP and regular season scoring champion with 79 points in 54 games, will be attending Northeastern University this fall. Defenseman Dustin Nehring led all scorers in the SJHL playoffs with 24 points in 18 games, while goaltender Brett Bothwell was 18-5 in the post-season with a 2.18 goals against average.
