BRNO, Czech Republic – Troy Bourke scored in overtime as Canada's men's under-18 team defeated hosts the Czech Republic 5-4 on Monday in their final exhibition match heading into the U18 worlds.

The Czechs forced overtime when Dominik Lucas Volek scored a power-play goal with one second left to play.

Canada had built a 4-3 lead on goals by Gemel Smith of Toronto, defenceman Darnell Nurse of Hamilton, Calgary's Mathew Dumba and William Carrier of Pierrefonds, Que.

Bourke, a Onoway, Alta., native who plays for the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League, scored the winner at 2:30 of overtime.

Canada will open the under-18 world championships against Denmark on Thursday at Kajot Arena.
