Canada’s National Women’s Team will play in the gold medal final of the 4 Nations Cup on Sunday versus Team USA. Canada concluded the round-robin portion of the tournament with a 5-3 win over Sweden on Saturday at Ejendals Arena. Earlier, Team USA defeated Finland 2-1.

Team Canada captain Hayley Wickenheiser (Shaunavon, SK/Calgary, WWHL) led the way against Sweden with one goal and three assists and Delaney Collins (Pilot Mound, MB/Calgary, WWHL) had a goal and two helpers. Canada’s other goal scorers were Meghan Agosta (Ruthven, ON/Mercyhurst, CHA), Jennifer Botterill (Winnipeg, MB/Mississauga, CWHL) and Sarah Vaillancourt (Sherbrooke, QC/Harvard, ECAC). Canada outshot Sweden 54-24. Shannon Szabados (Edmonton, AB/Grant MacEwan, ACAC) earned the win in net.

Canada led the round-robin with a 3-0-0-0 record, followed by Team USA (2-0-1-0), Finland (1-0-2-0) and Sweden (0-3-0-0).

Canada is looking for its fourth-straight title at this event. The 4 Nations Cup includes the top four ranked women’s hockey programs in the world and has been a prominent international event since 1996.
