SASKATCHEWAN SNAGS SEVENTH PLACE
SURREY, B.C. – British Columbia had a better game Saturday morning in Surrey but still couldn’t beat
Saskatchewan, with Bailey Habscheid (Wymark, Sask.) scoring the first and last goals of the game to secure
the 4-2 win and seventh place in the standings.
Habscheid’s initial marker came about midway through the first on a power-play, with assists going to fellow
forwards Jessica Campbell (Melville, Sask.) and Shelby Nisbet (Dinsmore, Sask.).
Saskatchewan held on to its 1-0 lead going into the second, but B.C. came back in the second with defenceman
Anna Kozniuk (North Vancouver, B.C.) and forward Alex Yallouz (North Vancouver, B.C.) giving their team a
boost in the game and a much-needed boost in the tournament after a tough 13-0 loss Friday night to
Manitoba.
But British Columbia’s 2-1 lead would be short-lived, with Saskatchewan’s Jenna Smith (Swift Current, Sask.)
and Ellen Lind (Saskatoon, Sask.) scoring two quick ones and Habscheid securing her second of the night and
the 4-2 win for her team.
Saskatchewan heads back to the prairies in seventh, while British Columbia lands in last place and will have
to set its rights on the 2011 National Women’s Under-18 Championship.
