LUDWIG SCORES LATE WINNER AS CANADA EVENS SLEDGE SERIES AMHERSTBURG, Ont. – Karl Ludwig (Brampton, Ont.) scored the game-winning goal with just over five minutes to go as Canada’s National Sledge Development Team earned a 2-0 win over the United States on Friday afternoon. The victory evens the three-game series at a win apiece – the U.S. won Thursday’s opener by a 3-2 score – ahead of Saturday’s series finale, a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at the UCCU Complex. After almost 55 minutes of scoreless hockey with chances few and far between for both sides, Ludwig beat American goaltender Justin Kreger for the eventual game-winner. Jordan Cullum (Burlington, Ont.) added an empty-net goal in the dying seconds, clinching the win and shutout for Canadian netminder Chris Wood (London, Ont.), who made his first-ever Team Canada start. Tyler McGregor (Forest, Ont.) finished with two assists for the Canadians, who were 1-for-2 on the power play and killed off both American opportunities with the man advantage. |
