  • President of Hockey Canada in the mid-1990s
  • Instrumental in the merger of Hockey Canada and the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association
  • Supported the creation of the Bill Hay Future Leaders internship program with Hockey Canada
  • Major role in working with the Seaman Hotchkiss Hockey Foundation on special projects
  • Chairman of the Hockey Hall of Fame board of directors from 1998-2013
  • Strengthened HHOF relations with the IIHF, NHL, NHLPA and Hockey Canada
  • Led creation of the D.K. (Doc) Seaman Hockey Resource Centre
  • Member of the Hockey Hall of Fame board of directors from 1995-2013
  • Member of the Hockey Hall of Fame selection committee from 1980-95
  • President and CEO of the Calgary Flames from 1991-95
  • Recorded 386 points (113 goals, 273 assists) in 506 NHL games
  • Won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks (1961)
  • Won the Calder Memorial Trophy (1959-60)
  • Played in the NHL All-Star Game (1960, 1961)
  • Played with the men’s hockey team at Colorado College from 1955-58
  • Won the NCAA championship with Colorado College (1957)
  • Named an NCAA West First Team All-American (1957-58)
  • Named to the WIHL First All-Star Team (1956-57, 1957-58)
  • Named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team (1957)

ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND

  • Born on December 9, 1935 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
  • He and his wife, Nancy, have three children, Pam (Dan Brown), Penny (Grant Fagerheim) and Donald, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild
  • His father, Charles Hay, was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1974
  • Involved with the Bill Hay Future Leaders Internship Program with Hockey Canada
