Team Quebec to Face Team Usa in Gold Medal Final at The 2006 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Regina

Regina, SK – The final has been set for the 2006 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge as Team USA will face Team Quebec at 7:30pm (CT) at the Brandt Centre in Regina. TSN/RDS will be televising the gold medal final starting at 8:30pm (CT), check your local listings for details.

In the first semi-final of the evening, Team USA beat Team Pacific 8-4 at the Brandt Centre in Regina. Colin Wilson and James Van Riemsdyk each had a pair of goals in the USA victory.

The second semi-final was at the Civic Centre in Moose Jaw, Team Quebec squeezed out a 2-1 win over the Czech Republic. Forward Michael Stinziani scored the game winning goal to advance Team Quebec into Wednesday’s gold medal final.

Team Pacific will play the Czech Republic tomorrow in the Bronze medal game at 3:00pm (CT) at the Brandt Centre in Regina.

In the placement games, Slovakia defeated Germany 4-3 in a shoot out for 9th place, Team West beat Finland 2-1 in overtime for 7th place, and it was Team Ontario over Team Atlantic 9-1 for 5th spot.

The tournament All-Star committee announced their selections on Tuesday evening.

Forward – Tyler Ennis (Pacific)
