All for Anthony

Students at the Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute raised more than $5,500 for a cancer-stricken classmate and his family

On Oct. 5, students at Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute (LCVI) in Lindsay, Ont., participated in the 14th annual Trish Peters Run, a fundraiser for the Trish’s Wish Foundation that honours a former LCVI student who passed away from cancer in 2002.

The foundation was created as one of Trish’s last wishes to raise money to support local families undergoing medical difficulties. This year, the proceeds from LCVI fundraising efforts were donated to Anthony Serracino-Inglott and his family.

In August, Anthony, a student at the LCVI Hockey Canada Skills Academy, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments at SickKids in Toronto since his diagnosis.

On ‘Trish Day’ the students completed the two-kilometre run or walk dressed in pink from head to toe and raised more than $5,500 for Anthony and his family.

The LCVI Hockey Canada Skills Academy class have also joined together to show their support for Anthony. His teammates each shaved their heads and have prepared a welcome home package for Anthony when he returns from his treatments at the end of the month, including a new hockey stick, a custom team jersey, hockey supplies, and some of his favourite snack foods.

The Hockey Canada Skills Academy family sends our best wishes to Anthony as he begins his second round of chemotherapy and look forward to seeing him back on the ice soon.
