Quotes:

“Until Finland scored that third goal, we were still in the game and I thought we had a good chance of tying the score. Unfortunately, we got a bad bounce and [Finland] ended getting a two-goal lead, but from the second period on we played a much better game. As for the tournament as a whole, we played some good hockey teams here and it gave us a good opportunity to evaluate our players, so we are really happy with the whole experience.”

-      Head coach Claude Julien (Orleans, Ont.) on today’s game and the experience at the 2021 Channel One Cup

“I thought we got off to a slow start tonight. It was a pretty quick turnaround from yesterday’s game, and we definitely did not start the way we wanted to. As the game went on we got a lot better, and we took it to [Finland] in the second and third period. Overall, I thought we played hard but a better start to the game would have helped.”

-      Corban Knight (Oliver, B.C./Avangard Omsk, KHL) on today’s performance

“If I had an opportunity to play in the Olympics and represent my country, it would be hard for me to say no to that. I would love the opportunity to be able to do it again. We were able to win a bronze medal [in PyeongChang], so hopefully we can improve on that result at the upcoming Olympics if the opportunity presents itself, but I would love to represent Canada at the Olympics again.”

-      Eric O’Dell (Ottawa/Dynamo Moscow, KHL) on representing Canada at the Olympics
