Quotes:

“We are progressing well, despite only being together for a week. Every game we are trying to really focus on our own play and try to improve as we go along. I thought today was a good game. We had a bit of a slow start but in the second and third period we were able to find our rhythm.

“[Slovakia] is a team that we have seen at the Olympics, and they won bronze there, so it is a team that we need to respect. They are also coming off a loss [on Friday], so no doubt they will come out and play their best game against us. We need to be ready for that challenge.”

- Head coach Claude Julien (Orleans, Ont.) on today’s game and facing off against Slovakia

“We have only been together for a week, but [our line] is gelling well together. We have only had a couple practices but the three of us have had chemistry since the first time we got on the ice together. We are all doing what we do best on the ice, and we are helping the team create scoring chances. We also take a lot of pride in being dependable in the defensive zone, and we are a pretty confident line right now and we are only going to get better.”

- Anderson on playing with Cole Sillinger (Regina, Sask./Columbus, NHL) and Adam Lowry (Calgary, Alta./Winnipeg, NHL)

“We approach every game the same way. We want to improve ourselves, both individually and as a team, and we want to play the best we can. I remember the last time I played Slovakia at the world championship, and that was a great game to be a part of. It was a tight game the whole way and we were able to score in the final seconds, but [Slovakia] is a team that works really hard and has a lot of talent, so we need to be mindful of that.”

- Chabot on the difficulties of playing Slovakia
