Goldbloom to step aside as chair of the board on Oct. 5

CALGARY, Alberta - Hockey Canada has announced that Jonathan Goldbloom, the chair of the Hockey Canada Board of Directors, will step aside from his volunteer position on Oct. 5 after choosing not to seek re-election to the board when his term expires in December.
After Oct. 5, an interim chair will be appointed by the board to serve in the role until the 2026 Hockey Canada Annual Meeting on Dec. 5.
Goldbloom joined the transition Hockey Canada Board of Directors in December 2022 as part of the slate of directors that ushered the organization into a new era, before being elected to a three-year term as chair in November 2023.
“Serving on the Hockey Canada Board of Directors with my colleagues for nearly four years has been the privilege of a lifetime, and I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many people who have become lifelong friends,” said Goldbloom. “Hockey Canada has come such a long way since our transition board of directors was elected in 2022, and I am confident that our Members, board and staff are well positioned to lead our National Winter Sport to unprecedented success.
“It is the appropriate moment to have a new chair begin to lead the organization during the first year of the Olympic and Paralympic quadrennial, and this fall, I look forward to shifting my role to Team Canada’s #1 fan. Go Canada Go!”
The Hockey Canada 2026 Annual Meeting will take place in Toronto and include the Members electing three directors and the new board appointing a chair.
