TELUS Volunteer Program launches for fall and winter events

CALGARY, Alberta –Hockey Canada has announced that applications for the TELUS Volunteer Program are being accepted now through Sept. 2, 2026, for the 2026 U17 World Challenge, 2026 Para Cup and 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship.

While different opportunities through the TELUS Volunteer Program are available for specific tournaments, the U17 World Challenge in Oakville, Ontario, and Para Cup in Paradise, Newfoundland and Labrador, are recruiting interested volunteers in access management, off-ice officials, team services, transportation, and volunteer operations and experience.

At the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta, TELUS Volunteer Program positions are available for access management, accreditation services, fan experience, game operations and ceremonies, hospitality, media services, medical services, off-ice officials, team services, transportation, and volunteer operations and experience.

“We are excited to launch TELUS Volunteer Program applications for Canadians at three of our most prominent events, including the World Juniors in Alberta,” said Khanh Be, senior manager of community and social impact for Hockey Canada. “This fall and winter, more than 600 volunteers will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience helping contribute at these tournaments, and we look forward to working with them to leave positive legacies in all four communities.”

As part of the TELUS Volunteer Program, selected volunteers at Hockey Canada events will receive training, recognition including surprise and delights, and play an important role in delivering marquee international hockey tournaments across the country.

After applications close on Sept. 2, interested volunteers for future Hockey Canada events can sign up to the Hockey Canada Insider to be the first to know when applications open.
