HCLL - Hockey Canada Coach 1 - Developing Skills - Stationary Stickhandling - Tendency

Some of the negative tendencies with regards to stick handling at a younger age is that the hands get too close together. These narrow hands don't promote good strong puck handling skills. A lot of times the head is down looking at the ice and following the puck instead of looking around. Another tendency is that there is no real true rolling of that upper hand or rolling of the wrist. Lastly, some players just lose their hockey stance and start standing straight up.
