Team Canada Wins 4 Nations Cup in Leksand, Sweden

LEKSAND, SWEDEN – Canada’s National Women’s Team won its fourth-straight 4 Nations Cup on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Team USA at Ejendals Arena.

Jennifer Botterill (Winnipeg, MB/Mississauga, CWHL) opened the scoring at 10:21 of the first period when she picked up a loose puck and slid it between the legs of Team USA goaltender Jessie Vetter. Hayley Wickenheiser (Shaunavon, SK/Calgary, WWHL) scored an empty-net goal at 19:56 of the third. - 4 Nations Cup Site

Shannon Szabados (Edmonton, AB/Grant MacEwan, ACAC) made 22 saves for the shutout. She was named Canada’s player of the game.

Canada finished the tournament with four victories, having defeated Team USA, Finland and Sweden in round-robin action. Finland won the bronze medal with a 1-0 victory over Sweden earlier on Sunday.
