Canada's National Sledge Hockey Team to Hold Training Camp From January 19-22 in Winnipeg

CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada announced Tuesday that Canada’s National Sledge Hockey Team will be holding a training camp January 19-22 at the MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg, Man.

The roster for the camp includes 15 of 16 national team players that swept a series with the United States and Japan in November 2010 in Rochester, N.Y.

Ray Grassi (Windsor, Ont.) is unable to attend the camp due to injury and Benoit St. Amand (St-Hubert, Que.) is unable to attend the camp due to illness. Grassi and St. Amand will be replaced by James Gemmell (Quesnel, B.C.) and Kris Dutkiewicz (Kitchener, Ont.), who were members of the National Sledge Development team which won all three matches in a three game series vs. the United States last week in Essex, Ont.

The team is holding the training camp in preparation for the Four Nations Cup March 10-14 in Nagano, Japan which will also feature the United States, Norway and Japan, and the upcoming World Sledge Hockey Challenge to be held in London, Ont., April 18-23.
The National Team players will be on the ice a total of eight times over four days in Winnipeg.

Thursday, January 20

4-6 p.m.

Saturday, January 22
10 a.m.-Noon
4-6 p.m.

NOTE - All practices are open to the public, including a scrimmage against Winnipeg area players and members of the media between 5-6 p.m. CST on Saturday, January 22.
