CHA Program of Excellence Background
Named head coach of the 2001 National Junior Team on June 2, 2000. Head coach of the 1999 National Under 18 Team which captured the 1999 Four Nations Under 18 Tournament in the Czech Republic. Assistant coach with the 1999 National Junior Team, under Tom Renney, which captured a silver medal at the 1999 World Junior Hockey Championship. Assistant coach with the 1998 National Under 18 Team that won a gold medal at theThree Nations Tournament in the Czech Republic.

Coaching background
Head coach and Director of Hockey Operations of the OHL's Brampton Battalionsince the 1997-98 season, a year before the team actually began play in the OHL.In only its second year in the OHL, the Battalion made it to the OHL playoffsin 1999-2000. Coached the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey Leaguein 1996-97. The Cougars made the WHL playoffs for the first time in seven seasonsthat year. The Cougars upset first-place Portland and third-place Spokane beforelosing to Seattle in the Conference Final. The Cougars' series victory over Portlandwas the first such playoff win for the Cougars in 15 years. Coached the OshawaGenerals of the Ontario Hockey League from 1994 through 1996. In the 1994-95season, the Generals posted a won-lost-tied record of 40-21-5. Ten members ofthat Generals' team were selected in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, the most by anyCanadian Hockey League team. Named the CAHA Coach-of-the-Year in 1989 while hewas the head coach of Wexford in Junior B.

Personal
Stan is a graduate of Brock University in St. Catharines, ON, where he obtained his degree in Physical Education and a Masters in Education. He also has a Bachelor Degree in Education from the University of Toronto. Before becoming a full-time head coach, Stan taught physical education for 15 years in Scarborough. Stan and wife Barb have two children: Sara (10) andAdam (7).
