For the second year in a row Canada will take home silver from the IIHF World Junior Championship, losing 5-3 to Russia in Wednesday’s gold medal game despite holding a 3-0 lead.

United States 1 – Canada 4 | Semifinal | Mon. Jan. 3

Ryan Ellis, Carter Ashton and Brayden Schenn put Canada in a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes, but the Russians scored five unanswered goals in the third period, leaving the Canadians with silver for the second year in a row.

Canada 4 – Switzerland 1 | Quarter-final | Sun. Jan. 2

Casey Cizikas scored the game-winning goal late in the second period and Brayden Schenn added two assists to his tournament-leading point total as Canada set up a much-anticipated semifinal showdown with the U.S. with a win.
