Team Canada 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship Ebay Auction Begins Sunday, December 30th

CALGARY, AB – Hockey Canada has again teamed up with eBay Canada to offer game-worn Team Canada jerseys, helmets and gloves from the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship in Pardubice and Liberec, Czech Republic.

Hockey fans across Canada and around the world have the opportunity to bid on game-worn black jerseys from Canada’s game against Sweden on December 29th, and helmets and gloves worn throughout the championship.

The auction will run at www.ebay.ca and www.hockeycanada.ca beginning Sunday, December 30th for 10 days, ending on Tuesday, .

These eBay items are one of a kind and game worn by members of Canada’s National Junior Team, and all items come with a letter of authenticity from Hockey Canada.

Among the jerseys that hockey fans have a chance to win via the auction are those of Kyle Turris, the highest Canadian player selected in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, John Tavares, the 2007 Canadian Hockey League Player of the Year, and 2007 IIHF World Junior Championship gold medalists Karl Alzner – Canada’s captain – and Brad Marchand.

Net proceeds raised through this 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship auction go to Hockey Canada, to assist with the funding of national development programs, national teams and Hockey Canada initiatives that promote the sport at the grassroots level.
