Canada's National Junior Team Advances to Quarter-Finals Against Switzerland at 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Canada’s National Junior Team will face Switzerland in the quarter-final at the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship after a 6-5 loss to Sweden in shootout on Friday night at HSBC Arena. Canada finished second in Group B, behind Sweden, with a 3 win, 1 overtime loss record.

Canada had goals from Curtis Hamilton, with two, Sean Couturier, Quinton Howden and Brayden Schenn, with his tournament leading seventh goal, a goal which gave Canada a 5-4 lead in the third. But Team Canada eventually lost 6-5 in a shootout.

Canada will play its quarter-final against Switzerland at 3:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. PT on Sunday, January 2, with the winner facing the United States in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT on Monday, January 3.
