CALGARY, Alta. – Two winners have been announced in the Boston Pizza and Bauer Design-A-Mask contest, which received more than 1,000 entries. For the 12th year in a row, two winners will see their designs worn by Canada’s National Junior Team goaltenders during the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2014 to Jan. 5, 2015 in Toronto, Ont., and Montreal, Que.

In the 12-and-under category, Connor Lanteigne of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., was chosen as the best design, while Morgan Bray of Abernethy, Sask., is the winner in the 13-to-18 category.

Apart from the thrill of having their designs chosen by the hockey industry’s top goaltender aficionados and worn by Canada’s netminders, Connor and Morgan will also receive their very own duplicate, custom-painted Bauer mask, which will be autographed by members of Canada’s 2015 National Junior Team.

In addition, Connor and Morgan will be able to see their designs live and in person; Boston Pizza and Bauer are sending both winners to a Team Canada game at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship.

“We are very excited to partner with Hockey Canada on such a popular initiative that allows Boston Pizza to leverage a traditional sponsorship to connect with youth and provide them with a once-in-a-lifetime experience” says Joanne Forrester, vice-president of marketing with Boston Pizza. “As a proud partner of Hockey Canada we know that Connor and Morgan have inspired our goaltenders and we know Canada’s National Junior Team will do us proud.”

“Bauer Hockey, the industry leader in goaltender facial protection, is proud to partner with Boston Pizza for the Design-A-Mask contest,” said Darryl Hughes, marketing director of Bauer Hockey. “The entries received each year are always unique and creative and I know the goaltenders of Canada’s National Junior Team will be proud to wear these at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship.”

“Congratulations to Connor and Morgan for being selected as this year’s winners of the Boston Pizza and Bauer Design-A-Mask contest,” said Scott Salmond, vice-president of hockey operations/national teams for Hockey Canada. “The World Juniors are such a huge part of the holiday season for so many Canadians, and it is exciting to be able to have young players, fans and aspiring artists be a part of Team Canada.”

Past winners have seen their masks worn by the likes of NHL first-overall selection Marc-André Fleury and gold-medal-winning netminders Jeff Glass, Justin Pogge, Steve Mason and Dustin Tokarski.
