World Cup CANADA’S NATIONAL MEN’S SLEDGE HOCKEY TIE NORWAY 1-1 Arvada, Colorado – Canada’s National Men’s Sledge Hockey Team played their first game of two today with a 1-1 tie versus Norway. Both teams came out strong from the drop of the puck as Team Canada where looking for another win after beating USA 3-1 yesterday while Norway were looking for their first of the tourney after losing to the USA yesterday 4-1. The last time these two teams met where at the 2004 World Championship making this a much anticipated game. Norway scored first on a power play at 8:48 of the first period after Team Canada was assessed their first penalty of the game for roughing at 10:27. Team Canada could not capitalize when Norway player Stig Svee was called for roughing at 4:52 remaining. In the second period Norway were down two players with 3:35 to play but manage to escape without any harm. Team Canada never looked back and continued with their game plan by pressing Norway and finally got rewarded with a goal at the 5:54 mark when Bradley Bowden connected with a beautiful pass right on to the stick of Billy Bridges who then blasted a shot from the point past Norway net minder Johansen. Team Canada came close to netting the winner with less than a minute to play in the third period when Raymond Grassi took a shot from the blueline hitting the cross bar and then going out of play. Team Canada will face USA tonight at 7pm MT.
