BOWDEN, WESTLAKE LEAD CANADA TO PERFECT PRELIMINARY ROUND

NAGANO, Japan – Brad Bowden (Orton, Ont.) and Greg Westlake (Oakville, Ont.) had four points each and Corbin Watson (Kingsville, Ont.) needed to make just seven saves for the shutout as Canada’s National Sledge Team wrapped up an undefeated preliminary round at the 2012 Japan Four Nations Tournament with a 7-0 win over Norway on Thursday.

Bowden had a goal and three assists, while Westlake scored twice and added two helpers for the Canadians, who will face Korea in Saturday’s semifinals (4 a.m. ET/1 a.m. PT).

Canada jumped on Norway early, outshooting the Scandinavians 7-1 in the first period and taking a 2-0 lead on goals from Bowden and Anthony Gale (Brampton, Ont.).

The Canadians doubled their lead in the second thanks to Dominic Larocque (Quebec City, Que.) and Kieran Block (Edmonton, Alta.), before Westlake, with a pair, and Adam Dixon (Midland, Ont.) scored in the third period to cap off the scoring.

Canada had more goals (four) than the Norwegians had shots (three) through two periods.

The win gave the Canadians a small measure of revenge – Norway blanked Canada 1-0 in Nagano last March, the last time the Canadian side lost a game.
