So make it a goal and an assist for the pride of Stellarton, N.S.

CAN 1 - CZE 0

1st - 13:38 | First save for Ann-Renée Desbiens is a doozy as she flashes the leather on Klara Jandusikova,

1st - 14:16 | First power play of the game goes to the Czechs as Blayre Turnbull sits for body-checking.

1st - 16:37 | A chippy start to this one. Physical play at both ends, but just single shot on goal so far.

Officials for this one...

Referees - Brandy Dewar (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.), Shauna Neary (Herring Cove, N.S.)
Linespersons - Anna Hammar (SWE), Amy Lack (GBR)

Is tonight the night for Marie-Philip Poulin?

The Canadian captain sits at 99 career goals, one away from joining Hayley Wickenheiser, Jayna Hefford and Danielle Goyette in the century club.

Just one small change to the Canadian lineup - Kristen Campbell will dress as backup to Ann-Renée Desbiens in place of Emerance Maschmeyer, who served in that role against the Swiss.

Other than that, it's the same look for Canada, with the veteran top line of Rebecca Johnston, Marie-Philip Poulin and Rebecca Johnston (with their combined 203 goals and 451 points) leading the way.

This is the 426th game in the storied history of Canada's National Women's Team, but it's the first meeting with the Czechs.

That makes Czechia the 15th different country the Canadians have played in international competition (joining China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Norway, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States and West Germany).

Welcome to Brampton!

We are one hour away from the drop of the puck as Canada takes on Czechia to continue Group A play at the 2023 IIHF Women's World Championship.

Both teams come in off opening-game wins - the Canadians blanked Switzerland 4-0 on Wednesday night, while the Czechs doubled up France 4-2 last night.
