(Dartmouth, N.S.) Newfoundland and Labrador kicked off their Canada Winter Games with a win in Men’sHockey,defeating the Northwest Territories 7-1 at the Dartmouth Sportsplex. Liam Hynes’ goal late in periodone,would stand up as the game winner.

Marcus Cuomo had a pair of goals to pace Newfoundland while Cody Villebrun has the lone marker fortheNorthwest Territories as he tied the game up midway through the first period. The Territories were unabletosolve Newfoundland goaltender Mitchell Puddester the rest of the way. Connor Goudreau got the start ingoalfor the Northwest Territories.

It will be an all-maritime matchup as Newfoundland next plays Prince Edward Island and an all territorygamebetween Yukon and Northwest Territories also playing in group C action on Sunday morning.
