ONTARIO SINKS ATLANTIC’S BATTLESHIP

REGINA — A six-goal first period gave Ontario all they needed to clinch fifth place at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, beating Atlantic 9-1 in Weyburn.

John Tavares and Zack Torquato each scored a pair of goals and added an assist for the Ontario side. Logan Couture assisted on three Ontario goals.  Drew Doughty chipped in a pair of assists.

Atlantic’s Brad Malone broke Trevor Cann’s shutout bid with a late third-period goal. Geoff Hum and Scott Brannon assisted.
