Team Canada fell 3-0 to the tournament host Czech Republic in front of a 4050 fans. After a scoreless first period, the Czechs opened the scoring with a power play goal just 48 seconds into the second period. Canada trailed by one goal until Thomas Mertl scored for the Czech to put them ahead 2-0 with 5:35 remaining in the third period. The Czech Republic added an empty netter with 20 seconds left to defeat Team Canada by a score of 3-0. Canada outshot the Czech Republic 41-37, and Canadian goalie Julien Ellis-Plante made 34 saves and was named Player of the Game. Canada finishes the round robin portion of the tournament with a 2-1 record and advances to the semi-finals on Friday, August 15th vs USA.
