UNDER-18 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Roman Psurny scored at 6:13 of the third period to give the Czech Republic a 3-2 win over Canada in the bronze-medal game at the world under-18 hockey championships Sunday. Liam Reddox of the Peterborough Petes and Ryan Garlock of the Windsor Spitfires scored for Canada while Devan Dubnyk took the loss in goal. Michal Birner and Jakub Sindel scored for the Czechs. UNDER-18 JR. WORLD CUP

Canada’s National Under-18 Team had to settle for 4th place at the 2003 U18 Junior World Cup in the Czech Republic, after an 8-2 loss to the host team today in Breclav. Defencemen Cam Barker (Winnipeg, MB) and Wes O’Neill (Essex, ON) scored Canada’s goals. The Czech powerplay accounted for five goals on the day, capturing the bronze medal. » summary
