Maxim Bain and Alexander Yakovenko scored, Maxim Kalyayev made 21 saves and Russia won its second World Under-17 Hockey Challenge gold medal in the last four years, and third ever, beating the Americans in the final.

Linus Weissbach, William Fällström and Oskar Steen scored the goals, Filip Gustavsson made 25 saves, and Sweden took an early lead it would never relinquish, beating its Nordic neighbours to win the bronze medal in Sarnia.

For the third time in four years, Russia will play for under-17 gold; Dmitri Alexeyev, Dmitri Sokolov and Maxim Bain had a goal and an assist apiece, and the Russians scored three times in the first 10:21 as they rolled past the Finns into the final.

Brett Howden’s second goal of the game came on the power play 3:16 into overtime as Canada White erased a two-goal deficit and knocked off Canada Red for a fifth place finish. Jonathan Ang also scored for Canada White.

Max Jones scored once and added an assist, and Clayton Keller set up three goals as the Americans scored the game’s last four goals to advance to the gold medal game for the fifth time in six years with a semifinal win over the Swedes.

Beck Malenstyn set up Félix Lauzon for the overtime winner just 97 seconds into the extra period, helping Canada Black earn a seventh-place finish in Lambton Shores despite losing a two-goal third-period lead to the Slovaks.

Linus Lindström and Lias Andersson scored second-period goals, and Filip Gustavsson was terrific, stopping all 35 shots he faced for the shutout as the Swedes set up a semifinal against the United States by blanking Canada White.

Dmitry Sokolov scored a pair of goals and added an assist in the decisive third period, German Rubtsov had a goal and a helper, and the Russians booked a date with Finland in Friday’s semifinals in Sarnia after a win over Canada Red.

Kristian Vesalainen led the way with a hat trick, Otto Somppi added two assists and the Finns advanced to the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge semifinals for the first time since 1995 with a convincing win over the Slovaks.

Joey Anderson scored twice, and Kailer Yamamoto and Max Jones had a goal and an assist each to help the unbeaten Americans past Canada Black and into Friday’s semifinals in Sarnia, the ninth straight semifinal appearance for the U.S.

Clayton Keller scored a hat trick and added an assist – his second straight four-point performance – and the Americans scored four first-period goals to finish off a perfect preliminary round and clinch first place in Group B.

Eight different players recorded at least a point, Jonathan Ang scored the game-winning goal early in the second period and Samuel Harvey made 25 saves to help Canada White finish its preliminary round with a win over Russia.

Sam Steel and Pierre-Luc Dubois had a goal and an assist each, Kale Clague got the winner and Canada Black held off a Finnish comeback attempt in the final four minutes to earn its first win and hand the Finns their first loss.

Alexander Nylander finished with a goal and two assists, William Fällström scored twice and Filip Gustavsson made 21 saves for the shutout as the Swedes got their first win in their preliminary finale, blanking the Slovaks.

Logan Brown and Jake Kryski had a goal and an assist apiece – part of a three-goal first period – and Evan Fitzpatrick made 18 saves in his first start in goal to help Canada Red keep pace with the United States atop Group B.

Canada White erased an early two-goal deficit and Nicolas Hague was the overtime hero, hammering a point shot off the post and in 3:42 into the extra period to give his team the victory in the all-Canadian match-up in Sarnia

Aapeli Räsänen scored the lone goal in the fourth round of the shootout, Otto Somppi added two in regulation time, and the Finns survived the Russians despite giving up a four-goal lead in the final 12:42 of the third period. 

Logan Stanley scored a pair of goals, Nolan Patrick added three assists and Dylan Wells needed to make just 14 saves for the shutout as Canada Red earned the first World Under-17 Hockey Challenge win by a Canadian national team.

Dmitri Sokolov scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner late in the first period, Mikhail Mesheryakov and Maxim Bain had a goal and an assist each, and Russia opened its Group A schedule with a win over the Canadians.

Nick Pastujov sparked an American comeback with a goal and two assists as the defending gold medallists erased a 3-2 deficit – after giving up a two-goal lead – to double up Sweden and get the first win in Lambton Shores.

Tyson Jost scored the first goal ever by a Canadian national under-17 team to give Canada White an early lead, but the Finns got the next five – three in 12 minutes in the second period – to earn the first three points in Group A.
