BFL Women in Coaching Award

Trula Seaward initially came back to hockey to help her daughter’s team, but now she is helping grow the women’s game in her small community as a coach and a leader.
By challenging herself to chase adversity, Karissa Kirkup continues to learn and grow as a hockey coach in Manitoba.
Vicky Sunohara didn’t initially think about coaching, but she has found a passion for developing people through sport.

Congratulations to the 2025 provincial and territorial winners

Hockey Canada and BFL Canada recognize the country’s best women behind the bench with the BFL Women in Coaching Award. This season, 22 deserving women have been honoured for their efforts.

There is arguably no more important role in hockey than that of the coach, who is tasked with guiding young players not only on the ice, but off it as well. They are leaders in hockey, and leaders in life.
