A 19-1-2 record to top the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League made a loud-and-clear statement that the Sudbury Lady Wolves are determined to become the first Esso Cup host to win gold in the 11-year history of Canada’s National Female Midget Championship. The Lady Wolves opened the season with a 21-game unbeaten streak, suffering their lone loss in their final game of the season. Sudbury was prolific at both ends of the ice; it outscored its opponents 95-19 in 22 games, both LLFHL-leading totals. The goal tally is particularly notable, as they outpaced the second-best offensive team – the Toronto Aeros – by 14 goals (81).
