CALGARY, Alberta – Hockey Canada and the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) have announced that the 2026 Centennial Cup, presented by Tim Hortons, will be played in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, for the fourth time in the 55-year history of the tournament. The Summerside Western Capitals of the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) will welcome champions from across the CJHL from May 7-17, 2026 at Consolidated Credit Union Place. "We are thrilled to bring a national championship to Summerside next spring,” said Dean McIntosh, senior vice-president of revenue, fan experience and community impact with Hockey Canada. “The City of Summerside has become a prime destination for major Canadian sporting events including baseball, curling and hockey. The community is passionate about sports and has a strong volunteer base that we know will make this tournament a success.” It is the sixth time Prince Edward Island will host the Centennial Cup since the tournament began in 1971; Charlottetown hosted in the inaugural year as well as 2003, while Summerside played host in 1989, 1997 and 2013. “The CJHL is excited that the Summerside Western Capitals have been named hosts of the 2026 Centennial Cup,” said Andy Harkness, president of the CJHL. “The Western Capitals and Maritime Junior Hockey League, along with the Summerside community, have a long history with this tournament and have hosted several world class sporting events throughout the years. We know the passion for hockey in P.E.I. is high, and we’re excited for the Atlantic hospitality.” Details regarding schedules, ticket packages and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.
