CANADA LOSES IN OT
FUSSEN, Germany _ Erika Holst scored 16 seconds into overtime to give Sweden a 3-2 win over Canada at the Meco Cup women's hockey tournament Saturday. Canada forced the extra session when Mellissa Channell of Oakville, Ont., scored with four minutes left in the third period. The loss left Canada with a 3-1 record heading into the round-robin finale against Finland on Sunday. Sarah Davis of Paradise, N.L., scored Canada's other goal. Danijela Rundqvist and Elin Holmlov also scored for Sweden (4-0). Canada is the lone team with an under-22 roster at the annual tournament, previously known as the MLP Cup. Other countries have entered senior women's teams. |
