Team Canada Faces Russia for U18 Gold Medal on Wednesday

CALGARY, AB – Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team will attempt to win its second gold medal ever at the IIHF World Under-18 Championship on Wednesday, as it faces Russia in the championship game in Kazan, Russia.

TSN/RDS, Hockey Canada’s official broadcasters, will show the game live, beginning at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT. Canada reached the final with a 3-2 win over Sweden in semi-final action, with Russia defeating Team USA 3-1 in the other semi-final.

Canada has competed in the IIHF World Under-18 Men’s Championship each year since 2002, winning gold in 2003 and silver in 2005. Canada’s roster is made up of the best junior-aged players who aren’t involved in playoffs in Canada. Twenty-one of the 22 players on Team Canada are from CHL teams.

Canada’s players and staff are scheduled to arrive at Toronto Pearson International Airport at 7:45 p.m. ET on AC0877. Toronto is the final destination for players Tyler Cuma, Ryan Ellis, Cody Hodgson, Corey Trivino, Josh Brittain, Greg Nemisz, and Matthew Duchene.

All other players and staff will get on connection flights in Toronto.
