WHITE ERASES TWO-GOAL DEFICIT BUT FALLS IN SHOOTOUT CALGARY, Alta. – Laura McIntosh (Waterloo, Ont./Ohio State University, WCHA) set up two goals and scored in the opening round of the shootout, but that would be the only goal White could muster in eight rounds as it dropped a 3-2 decision to the Calgary Northstars Midget AAA boys team on Saturday afternoon at Canada's National Women's Team September Camp/Fall Festival. White finished with a split of its two games against Midget AAA competition – it beat the Calgary Royals
7-5 on Thursday night. After McIntosh showed off her slick moves on the first shot of the shootout, Northstars goaltender Justin Myles stopped the next seven shooters, although both Brittany Haverstock (Hammonds Plains, N.S./University of Wisconsin, WCHA) and Mallory Deluce (London, Ont./Toronto, CWHL) hit the post. White netminder Geneviève Lacasse (Kingston, Ont./Providence College, HE) allowed two goals on eight shots in the shootout after a 20-save performance in regulation time and overtime. Ryan Heddinger and Cole Keebler scored second-period goals for the Northstars, while Riley Whittingham and Aaron Neufeld were the Northstar scorers in the shootout. White wraps up camp on Sunday when it faces Red in the second of two intersquad games (9:30 a.m. MT), looking to avenge its 3-2 loss on Wednesday night. |
