2 Justin Papineau scored twice and added an assist and Richie Regehr had a goal and two helpers as Canada’s National Men’s Team opened the 2008 Deutschland Cup with a 5-2 win over Slovakia on Friday. Canada held a 47-17 advantage in shots on goal. |

4 Martin Kariya and Serge Aubin had a goal and an assist apiece and Canada held a 34-21 advantage in shots on goal, but it was Switzerland who came out victorious in the Swiss Challenge on Tuesday, winning 4-2 in front of almost 5,300 fans in Rapperswil. |
IN MEMORIAM Jim Koleff, 54, passed away on Sunday, November 2 in Lausanne, Switzerland after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A native of Hamilton, ON, Koleff had been in Europe since 1977, first as a player then a successful coach. As an assistant coach with Canada’s National Men’s Team, he helped Canada win the 2007 Spengler Cup. Hockey Canada extends its condolences to Jim’s family and many friends throughout the hockey world. |
