Team Canada played an exhibition game on Tuesday, December 14 against the home town Slovaks in front of a sold out crowd in Trencin, Slovakia.  The Slovaks roster was compiled of mainly NHL players who are currently locked out, whereas Team Canada’s roster is composed of players from 10 different leagues.

Canada battled back from a 2-0 deficit to get within one goal before the Slovaks scored an empty net goal to seal a 4-2 victory.

Ottawa Senators forward Marian Hossa recorded a hat trick for the Slovaks while Daniel Tkaczuk and Mike Craig replied for the Canadians.  Tkaczuk currently leads the Italian Elite League in scoring while Craig leads the Austrian Elite League in scoring.

Canada’s first game of the Loto Cup will be on Thursday, December 16 against Austria.

Team Canada’s starting goaltender Frederic Chabot was named the Player of the Game.
