Daniel Carr scored twice and Colten Ellis made 40 saves, but Canada saw its run at the 2024 Spengler Cup come to an end with a 4-2 semifinal loss to the Straubing Tigers.
Three returnees are among the 26 players who will wear the Maple Leaf with Team Canada beginning Boxing Day in Davos.
Gerard Gallant will serve as head coach in Davos alongside assistants Dave Hakstol, Mike Kelly and Johan Lundskog.
Brad Pascall, Joe Thornton and Hnat Domenichelli will again lead Canada’s National Men’s Team at the 2024 Spengler Cup.
Don Sweeney will lead Canada as general manager at the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, alongside associate GM Jim Nill.
Doug Armstrong will work alongside Ryan Getzlaf and Scott Salmond to lead Team Canada through the 2026 Olympics.
