LATE GOAL LIFTS ALBERTA TO WIN OVER ATLANTIC NAPANEE, ON – Team Alberta scored a power-play goal with 1:23 remaining in the game en route to a 4-2 win over Team Atlantic in the seventh-place game at the 2008 National Women’s Under-18 Championship. Hailey Wood (Lethbridge, AB/NAHA Academy) fired a shot from the point that got past Atlantic goaltender Alysha Manderson (Fredericton, NB/Fredericton Red Rebels). Wood later added an empty-net goal. Alberta also got goals from Holly Carrie-Mattimoe (Sherwood Park, AB/Sherwood Pary Fury) and Rachel Walsh (Calgary, AB/Calgary Edge). Atlantic answered with goals by Jillian Saulnier (Halifax, NS/Stoney Creek Sabres, PWHL) and Jessica Wong (Baddeck, NS/Stoney Creek Sabres). |
