Ontario Blue  3 -  Atlantic  2

TEAM ATLANTIC COMEBACK FALLS SHORT

NAPANEE, ON – Team Atlantic pressed and pressed but couldn’t score during a frenetic final five minutes against Team Ontario Blue.

Atlantic (0-3) dropped its final preliminary-round game 3-2 to Ontario Blue, which moved to 2-1 and clinched a spot in the semi-finals on Saturday. Atlantic will play for seventh place versus Alberta.

Ontario Blue got off to a quick start with two goals in the first 3:32 of the game. Hannah Armstrong (Sharon, ON/Markham-Stoufville Stars, PWHL) and Jessica Vella (Pickering, ON/Durham West Lightning, PWHL) each scored to give Ontario Blue a 2-0 lead. Atlantic scored at 19:06 (Crapaud, PEI/Mid Isle Matrix) to make it a one-goal game going into the second.

Taylor Horton (St. Thomas, ON/Bluewater Hawks, PWHL) gave Ontario Blue a 3-1 lead at 3:31 of the third. Just over a minute later, though, Atlantic’s Sarah Davis (Paradise, NL/Warner Hockey Academy) scored to make it 3-2.

That set the stage for an exciting final five minutes. Despite several scoring chances, Atlantic’s players couldn’t put the puck past Ontario Blue’s Jenesica Drinkwater (Brantford, ON/Stoney Creek Sabres, PWHL).
