POULIN POTS THREE TO LEAD QUEBEC TO VICTORY

NAPANEE, ON – Team Alberta started strong, but Marie-Philip Poulin and Team Quebec finished stronger.

Poulin (Beauceville, QC/Blues de Dawson) scored three goals to lead Quebec to a 3-2 win over Alberta, which grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first.

Poulin scored two of her three goals in a 33-second span early in the third period. First, with her team shorthanded, she grabbed a loose puck and charged toward the net on a breakaway, going backhand to forehand to beat Alberta goaltender Jessica Ross (Calgary, AB/Calgary Bruins), a goal that made it 2-2.

Just 33 seconds later, Poulin carried the puck over the blueline and blasted a slapshot past Ross.

Alberta opened the scoring at 8:07 on a goal by Rachel Walsh (Calgary, AB/Calgary Edge). Walsh took a nice pass from Erica Farrer (Calgary, AB/Calgary Edge) and lifted a backhand past Quebec goaltender Roxanne Douville (Beloeil, QC/Lynx d’Edouard-Montpetit).

At 17:49, Alberta captain Saige Pacholok (Edmonton, AB/Edmonton Chimos) scored to make it 2-0.

Poulin scored at 16:13 of the second period to make it 2-1, setting the stage for her third-period heroics. Laurie Kingsbury (Valleyfield, QC/Selects) scored Quebec’s fourth and final goal.
