SASKATCHEWAN BEATS B.C. FOR FIFTH PLACE

NAPANEE, ON – For the second-straight year, Team Saskatchewan has defeated Team B.C. in the fifth-place game.

Saskatchewan scored two goals in the first period en route to a 3-1 victory over B.C. on Saturday at the 2008 National Women’s Under-18 Championship.

Nicole Hollingshead (Humboldt, SK/Weyburn Gold Wings, SFMAAAHL) and Erin Heinemann (North Battleford, SK/Battlefords Sharks, SFMAAAHL) scored for Saskatchewan in the first period and Jenny MacKnight (Regina, SK/Regina Rebels, SFMAAHL) added a goal in the second.

B.C.’s Kaleigh Fratkin (Burnaby, BC/Burnaby) scored the lone goal of the third, but Saskatchewan played tight defensively to hold on to the win.

Saskatchewan defeated B.C. 6-5 in overtime at the 2007 National Women’s Under-18 Championship.
